Yarkand, China | 40°C Heat, No Taxi, and a City I Knew Nothing About SE3E25

In this vlog, I travel from Kashgar to Yarkand (Shache) in Xinjiang, China by train to explore a city I had heard was worth visiting, even though I didn’t know much about it before arriving.

But the moment I got there, things got difficult. With temperatures around 35–40°C, I headed out during the hottest part of the day looking for a cooler place outside the city and even tried to find a river. Instead, I ended up stuck far from town, struggling to get back and unable to find a taxi in the extreme heat.

Later, I return to the city and visit the Altun Mazar historical complex, where we dive into the history of Yarkand, one of Xinjiang’s most fascinating and lesser-known cities.

This turned into one of the toughest days of the trip — and one of those moments that really made me miss traveling with my car.

If you enjoy real travel experiences, hidden cities in China, Xinjiang culture, train journeys, and the ups and downs of overland travel, this vlog is for you.
