An ongoing overland journey from Sweden to Southeast Asia — entirely by bus, no car. The route goes through Bulgaria and Turkey, then into Iraq during regional tensions. A flight to the UAE was followed by an overland crossing into Saudi Arabia; further tensions blocked the planned route to Pakistan, forcing a return to Turkey.
From Turkey the journey continues east through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan into western China — currently in Tashkurgan. The route ahead: Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the borders of Australia.
